Gabriel and Rikki’s wedding ceremony and reception had a truly one-of-a-kind theme of old fashioned chic. Held in Carlsbad at the groom’s parents’ house, the setup consisted of real natural color linen tablecloths with hemp tied napkins. These details were coupled with a backyard style ceremony and reception to give the wedding an amazingly ‘homey’ feel unique to the couple. Mason jar candle holders and ‘gunny sacks’ were also used as decor to help aide the theme of the wedding.

These backyard style weddings are another option for those recently engaged who have a house in the family large enough to accommodate the wedding’s party size, and can really add that special something that is not achievable at a venue. Although these weddings can’t always work for all recently engaged couples, in this case we were able to have 140 guests!

Even when faced with an unfamiliar venue, the Abbey staff were able to handle every aspect of the wedding reception with professionalism. We pleased the newly-wed bride, groom and all 140 guests with flawless service that was on time and cooked to perfection! Cocktail hour consisted of delicious appetizers including ceviche with talapia, coconut crusted golden shrimp, chicken satay skewers, mini cheese quesadillas and signature margaritas in mason jars. Dinner was a taco buffet with tempura crusted talapia and carne asada tacos with an optional condiment station consisting of black beans, fresh guacamole, cheese and a pico de gallo salsa. The usual wedding cake was ditched in favor of a more modern cupcake station with 4 different types of gourmet dessert, including a giant cupcake for the bride and groom.

This was another wedding that proved our staff’s ability to accommodate to any wedding size, situation, and venue while still being able to provide our signature outstanding service. Congratulations Rikki and Gabriel!
