27 Jul Tips to Reserving Hotel Room Blocks for Your Guests
You’re only months away from the big day and all of the details have been figured out, except for one: finding an affordable hotel for your guests. Although not required, it’s very courteous and takes the guesswork out of the equation when you reserve a block of rooms at a hotel for your out-of-town guests, and even those guests who are planning on getting a little tipsy at the reception and want to crash in a nearby bed in lieu of driving under the influence. Here are a few handy tips to help you in your search:
• Begin your search at least six months out from your wedding date, in order to give you and your guests plenty of time to make a decision as to which hotel you like best. Consider finding two hotels at different price points, so guests have the option of going with a really nice place or something more budget-friendly.
• Check if your wedding venue already has relationships established with any hotels in the area. If they do, this could help save a lot of time and money.
• To reserve a block of rooms, be sure to verify all of the items each hotel requires from you in order to honor your request. For example, many hotels have a minimum amount of rooms that need to be reserved in order to lock in discounted rates, as well as a minimum amount of night stays.
• It doesn’t hurt to ask for some freebies, especially if you’re reserving a substantial amount of rooms from a hotel. For example, some hotels will give you a free honeymoon suite if you reserve a set amount of rooms over a couple nights.
Even with all of these tips, searching for a good hotel at the right price can be almost as tough as searching for your wedding venue itself.
