In one of my previous blog posts (Top 20 Songs), I listed some of my favorite picks for first dance wedding songs because selecting the perfect first dance song is a significant decision, since the tradition is an intimate portrayal of you as a couple to your guests. With this in mind, it’s also important to think of the flip side, or what songs choices to avoid playing during your wedding package San Diego. Here are some words of advice:
• Romantic songs you think are about everlasting love but aren’t quite what you’d expect like “I Will Always Love You” by Whitney Houston. The song title says one thing, but the song ultimately says: “So, goodbye. Please, don’t cry.”
• Catchy but inappropriately-titled songs like “Better Off Alone” by Alice Deejay: You may like to bust-a-move to this classic techno song, but the song’s sentiment may not go over well with everyone else.
• Cliché or tried-and-true songs like “At Last” by Etta James: Don’t get me wrong, I love Etta James; but there are plenty of song choices that are just as romantic and in our decade you can use. And please don’t play anything by Peter Cetera, Richard Marx, or Michael W. Smith for that matter.
• Songs that would make your grandparents blush like “Me So Horny” by 2 Live Crew: Enough said.
• Any slow dance song that forces you to pair into couples and awkwardly sway back and forth on the dance floor: It can really kill the mood when it comes time for everyone to hit the dance floor. Plus, your high school prom was in the past, so let’s keep it that way.
What ever songs you choose make sure they say something about the two of you. A personal touch goes a long way!
