San Diego Botanical Garden Wedding Venue
While the wedding scene is going off in La Jolla and downtown San Diego there is an oasis just a little further north in the city of Encinitas, CA. San Diego Botanic Gardens is stunningly gorgeous and is right up there with any other San Diego wedding venue. Some brides want a lush garden as their wedding day backdrop and this venue exceeds all expectations.
Garden weddings are full of romance and this all outdoor space is wondrously full of hundreds of botanicals to set the perfect mood. Covering a hillside at the very top there are a couple expansive viewpoints where you can view the Pacific Ocean gleaming in the distance reflecting the warm sunlight. There are many locations on the property to host your ceremony and reception with different capacities to fit your guest count.
The Victorian Gazebo Lawn located in the center of the garden is great for higher guest counts. It can accommodate 300 for a ceremony and 200 for a sit down dinner reception. Surrounded by flourishing foliage and flowers you will feel like you’ve transported to a botanic wonderland.
The Walled Garden is an intimate setting that can seat about 70 people for a dinner reception. This space is filled with green ferns and trees and even has a place to get ready in called the Larabee House. Brides can exit out the historic building and walk right down the aisle. This area is versatile and can be used for cocktail receptions and even rehearsal dinners.
The Lawn House Garden is a multi-tiered private gated location. This space has more of a tropical rainforest vibe and you can even hear the faint sounds of a waterfall. This area can seat around 60 guests for a dinner reception.
Lastly, the Waterfall View Deck is prime for very intimate weddings and accommodates close to 30 people for ceremony only. It overlooks a stunning waterfall and is surrounded by palm trees and exotic tropical plants.
Venue Pricing
The San Diego Botanic Garden ranges in pricing depending on which location you choose to host your wedding and the time of year. On average this venue is $4500 for a full day rental. The max is $5500. You are required to rent tables and chairs from the Abbey Catering or outside source. They do allow BYOB but require a licensed bartender to serve your booze. Curfew is 10pm Friday and Saturday but 9pm on Sundays. If you’re a bride or couple that has fallen in love with the garden theme for your wedding then this place is perfect for you!
