Garty Pavillion Venue at the San Diego Rowing Club
The Garty Pavilion at The San Diego Rowing Club is one of those venues that is a pure gem. If you are one of those brides who’s dream wedding location is a San Diego bay view with a clean beachfront property then this indoor/outdoor space is perfect for you. Not well known to the masses it is an uncommon venue that you and a select few couples will tie the knot at. A truly unique San Diego wedding venue.
The area provides gorgeous views of Mission Bay and a romantic setting to celebrate the culmination of your love. The white sand beach will be the backdrop for your wedding ceremony. As you walk down the aisle with a warm bay breeze flowing through the crowd your guests will be mesmerized. Beautifully crafted boats will add to the ambiance of the ceremony and give a luxurious vibe. After all it is a rowing club. The outdoor pavilion is perfect for an open air dinner setting and afterwards dancing the night away with your loved ones. We suggest renting String Market lights from the Abbey Catering to really set the mood.
On top of the all wonderful aspects of this one of a kind venue it’s a historic location. In 1888 a group of San Diegans formed the Excelsior Rowing and Swim Club because at the time rowing was an ever growing popular sport in the world. In 1891 the club changed its name to the San Diego Rowing Club and flourished up until World War II. During that time it became a significant place in the community and brought San Diegans together. During the war the harbor was used mainly for military use so not until after was the club re-established. In the following years it almost didn’t make through the population boom and increase of other water sports facilities in the bay. Thankfully a small group of members were able to keep it afloat and it has survived and flourished to this day. With over 100 years of history this San Diego Wedding venue is nothing short of remarkable.
Venue Pricing
The venue costs $4250 for a Saturday and $3500 for Sunday. The other days of the week are reserved for the space to function for the San Diego Rowing Club. Their capacity maxes out at around 200 guests. You must rent your tables and chairs through the Abbey Catering or an outside source. They do allow BYOB if that fits your wedding criteria. Curfew is 10pm. The Garty Pavilion is hands down one of our favorite undiscovered venues in the San Diego area.
